Trivia:
Richard Nixon Gave His Famous ‘I Am Not a Crook’ Speech at the Contemporary Resort
In November 1973, President Nixon did a Q&A with over 400 journalists from the Associated Press at the Ballroom of the Americas in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World in Florida.
In a surprising historical connection, Richard Nixon had a long-standing relationship with Walt Disney, whom he was friendly with for many years. In 1955, the inaugural year of Disneyland, Nixon visited the park in California and was presented with a key. As vice president in 1959, he participated in the dedication of the Disneyland Monorail System. Additionally, in 1969, Nixon presented the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal to Walt's widow, Lillian.
Magic Shot of the Week:
Here’s a shot from my first Walt Disney World trip in 2002! That wand was a weird addition!
We all have those photos we take on a Disney vacation that we love. Every week, I’ll share one. They will be my photos, but I’d love for you to share yours so I can include them. Email me your Disney photo to photos@disneydiscussions.com, and it’ll go in a future weekly recap.
Disney Tip of the week:
Visit other Walt Disney World resorts on your vacation, whether for a half day or a full day! Each resort has its unique look and feel and always has a restaurant worth visiting. Here’s 60 seconds of our visit to Wilderness Lodge for a quick server dinner.
Shout out of the week:
Each week, I’ll shout out a Disney creator, whether through a Podcast, website, social media, or other means.
This week, check out Donald Duck’s appearance on Hot Ones!
